Saving Seeds

As we repopulate our wood and pond area we use a mix of transplants, nursery-bought plants, and seeds. A great resource has been Ernst Seed for native mixed of bulk seed suited to the constraints of our site. (They were first recommened to us on our field trip to Foote’s Pond Wood.)

We also rely on propagating plants from our own yards in our community.

Scutellaria incana, commonly Hoary Skullcap

Here we are collecting seeds from Penstemon hirsutus (Hairy Beardtongue) and Scutellaria incana (Hoary Skullcap) to plant in our pond and woodland restoration project.
